Affiliate Programs for Japan Websites:
Making money from affiliate programs is tricky business. Logically
speaking; if you have a website about Japan then visitors are likely to
purchase Japan-related products... right? Not necessarily. Maybe not at all.
Know your audience and test, test, test. Don't grow attached to programs
that aren't making any money. That being said, begin with Japan
advertisements and keep your site on topic. Below are some Japan-related
affiliate programs I have tried and some I still use. No one can tell you
which programs will work on your site, still I have included some opinions
from my experiences.
Japan Product Affiliate Programs:
- TFAW.com via Commission Junction
- Huge collection of Japanese anime and manga with large cover images
and good descriptions.
- Karate Depot
via Commission Junction
- Products cover many martial arts including Japanese styles.
Top-notch website and staff.
- AsiaFoods.com
- One of few affiliate programs offering Japanese food products. Think
twice before joining. I joined and sent two emails asking for support
which were never answered. A third email explaining why I would never use
them received no reply. Thumbs down.
- JapanAid via
AffiliateShop
- JapanAid provides services for foreigners in Japan including
translations, concierge, and emergency assistance. Noble idea, good
banners, and professional website.
- J-Life
International
- Perhaps a little-known gem. Unique and diverse collection of authentic
and hard to find clothing, fabric, cooking gadgets, garden supplies, and
more. Fast response to support inquiries. Excellent photos of many items.
Website design and user interface need a little work.
-
Eurotechnology Japan via
eSellerate
- Eurotechnology Japan provides business development services between
Japan, Europe, and the USA. Products include many Japanese product,
technical, and economic
reports written in English and not found elsewhere.
Honorable Mentions:
- Amazon.com
- A large and diverse selection of Japan-related products under one
roof. Japanese food, anime, housewares, movies, and of course books.
Quarterly payouts and low commission are drawbacks but the massive
inventory often leads to sales of non-Japan related items you didn't
even link to.
- Barnes &
Noble
- All of the drawbacks of Amazon.com (quarterly payouts and low
commission) without the diverse inventory. Still, many books and movies about
Japan make it worth a look.
